Modifications
So far, I havent had the time to do many of the planned modifications.
This is what I have done so far.
-
Added a tow hook to the front
of the tractor for chaining the unit down when trailering. TSC. $10.00.
-
Added a spinner knob to the
steering wheel. TSC. $10.00.
-
Started the grapple for the small
bucket with teeth. All I need now is a hydraulic cylinder and hoses and
it will be complete. Scrap iron, $20.00, 3PT ends and pins, $30.00. Hydraulic
cylinder should be about $65.00 and hoses less than $100.00 for a total that
should end up under $250.00.
-
Changed the weak inflatable castering tires on the 48 brush hog to
solid tires. Havent had a flat in 5 hours of operation.
-
Made some attachment points on my pickup truck for the loading ramps with
1 inch steel pipe. Worked great, but the point is mute. The truck is falling
apart and we have too many vehicles, so I retired it and bought an 18
car hauler and tow it with my van. Less insurance, cheaper plates, one less
motor to maintain, etc
This is a list of modifications that I would like to make to our PT425 as
time permits.
-
Mount headlights under the canopy facing forward.
-
Mount a headlight facing backwards behind the rear grille.
-
Mount associated circuits and switches for previously mentioned lighting.
-
Mount a wide angle rear view mirror under the canopy.
-
Install a wear bar on the plow blade. Make out of ¼ steel stock
2-3 inches thick. Just bolt it on.
-
Burn off the rear pin hitch and weld on a 2 receiver tube OR make a
2 receiver that can be pinned into the existing hitch.
-
Fabricate some sort of narrow toothed bucket for popping out small stumps
and shrubs.
